Officer Keith Boyer’s death a blow to Whittier, all of Southern California

It’s terrible day for the city of Whittier, its police department, and the men and women who wear the WPD badge. And especially for the family and friends of Officer Keith Boyer, who was shot to death Monday.

Officer Boyer, 53, was a 28-year veteran of the department. He was killed after he responded to what appeared to be a simple traffic accident.

Now that California voters have approved marijuana legalization, the city of Los Angeles needs to be able to responsibly regulate commercial marijuana activity. On March 7, L.A. voters will be presented with two similarly titled ballot initiatives purporting to do just that – Measure M, proposed by the City Council, and Measure N, pitched by a trade association of marijuana dispensaries.
